about
Written nearly 4 years ago, Proven A Star was a glimmer of pop in an out of time, bare bones, poorly recorded demo. Building the track from scratch, Proven A Star’s been given a new life in the form of a danceable anthem about taking all of life’s chaos and coming out of it shining.
lyrics
The stars broke our hands
Heavens gonna find me, heavens gonna find me downstairs
I climbed up from the ruins
Every time I’ve been proven a star
Over broken bread
We kiss our mothers and tuck them into our bed
In an armchair, holding our lovers, wishing mother was there
Only for a moment
Let’s enjoy no division
Take what you get and hold it in the veins of rope that tie our hands into heart shaped places
It only gets a little better before we can’t put it back together
Take what you get and enjoy the division
On the big screen
Our Faith is restored and truth is ignored
Only for a moment
Let’s enjoy no division
Take what you get and hold it in the veins of rope that tie our hands into heart shaped places
It only gets a little better before we can’t put it back together
Take what you get and enjoy the division
Only for a moment
You’ve got to be a star
Only for a moment accept who you are
(Broken hands on my face sharp nails that drag me down)
ake what you get and hold it in the veins of rope that tie our hands into heart shaped places
It only gets a little better before we can’t put it back together
Take what you get and enjoy the division

Even better the original. The fuzzy guitars create this warm, enveloping wall of sound that makes this classic a lot richer than Sheryl Crow's version. Allison's stout-hearted vocals, tinged with a subtle shade of blue, deliver some of the most resolute, optimistic lyrics in pop music with finesse and nostalgia. purelyanecdotal
Bouncy, jangly power pop with a slash of acidic shadow, as the very best twee always has. From Boston, they met at band camp (not Bandcamp). Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 2, 2019
